Information - How it works

ImageGoose offers a full slate of professional Digital Imaging Services at great prices. Let us enhance the images that mean the most to you. Retouching, restoring, reviving or perhaps creating a custom image, we have the tools to ensure you have a photo which you will be proud to display either in print, on the web, or in a photo frame. Tell us how you want it and let ImageGoose take care of the rest.

The Basics
Q: How do I send you a photo I would like to have edited?

A: There are various ways to send photos. If your photo is already in digital format, attach it in an email and send it to me indicating the type of service you would like. You can reacquaint yourself with our services here.

If your photo is a print or negative/slide that requires scanning before any restoration or editing services can be performed please contact me via email or phone and I will provide you with information on sending it. I will contact you after receipt and provide you with a quote for the project.

Q: Is there a particular digital file format that you require? JPG or TIFF for example.

A: I would prefer images sent in the following formats. JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, PSD, RAW, DNG, or PDF. On the off chance that you use or have a different file format please contact us to inquire.

Q: Is there a limit to the size of file or files I can attach to an email?

A: Yes there is. Only attachments totaling under 10 Megabytes should be attached and sent via each email. If you have multiple files you can split them up and send them in multiple emails or contact us for details to upload your multiple images.

Q: My photo is larger than 10 Megabytes. How do I send it to you?

A: If your photo is more than 10 megabytes, perhaps a large format such as TIFF, RAW or other large format files, please contact me and I will provide you with alternative options for uploading large files.

Q: Ok, I've sent you my photo, and I have indicated the type of service I would like, now what?

A: Once I have received your photo I will review it and provide you with a hard quote via email.

Reply to me if you want me to proceed.

I will complete the requested work and send you a watermarked proof image (see example) for your approval as well as instructions on how to pay for the service.

Once you have approved and submitted payment for the work, I will send your edited photo either via email attachment, via mail on a CD/DVD. If you need to transfer larger file sizes (over 10 megabytes) I will provide a link to download your photo from our web site.

Q: You mentioned paying for your services. Just how do I pay?

A: I use PayPal to process online credit card payments. Interac bank transfers are also accepted as well as payments made by cheque or money order via mail. Payment options and details will be sent to you with your proof image. Once payment has been made I will forward your completed photo to you.

The Details
Q: I have never used PayPal before, what is it?

A: PayPal is the service I use to process credit card payments. They are the granddaddy of online payment systems. They are perfect for businesses which require a simple and secure method of handling online payments.
You will receive the following benefits with PayPal: * Safer and faster than checks or money orders * Full purchase protection * FREE for buyers (that's you) * Faster payments mean your edited photo can be emailed to you sooner with PayPal, buying on the Internet is faster, easier and safer than ever before.

Q: Is there anything I should know or do before sending you a photo for editing?

A: Make sure you send the highest resolution image you can. Think megapixels. The higher the resolution (megapixels) the larger you will be able to make a print of your image. Do not resize or crop your image before sending it.
When you send a photo for editing I will quote a price and advise you of the maximum print size you should expect based on the resolution of the photo I have received.

Q: Are there any image problems that you cannot fix?

A: Out of focus or blurred images are probably not worth the effort to fix. When I receive your photo for editing I will advise you of any issues that are not worth the time or your money to attempt to fix. Don't forget that problem images can be used as part of a creative or artistic image. An example of this would be a collage or composite image made up of several images.

Q: What would be your #1 rule when talking about digital photography?

A: Easy. Back up your photos. Once you have saved your image to your computer or other storage device, always make a copy of the original image.
Store it separately.
You only get one chance to take a picture so make sure you save the original before you start to play around with those images. Imaging software that comes with your computer or with your digital camera is fun to play with but please backup your photo before you make a change you cannot take back. I speak from experience.

Q: What is your turn-around time? When can I expect my photo to be ready?

A: Your photo will be ready within 3 days (72 hours) of submission. You will be informed of the expected turn around time when provided with your quote for service. Rush service above your quote will incur a 50% surcharge which will be added to your total.

Q: Your prices in some cases seem vague. Starting at $20, for example, what does that mean?

A: Every photo is different and every photo requires individual attention. Restoring an old photo requires a larger investment of time than a appearance type edit so I am simply providing a base price sight unseen. Generally speaking the "starting at" price will be your quote. Once reviewed, the complexity of the elements in your photo will be the actual basis of your quote.

Q: In your last answer you mentioned "complexity of the elements". What does that really mean?

A: Restoring a photo that has scratches and tears. Adding or removing objects from backgrounds which have many different extremes in color, patterns and edges (clouds, trees, wallpaper and windblown hair) would be examples of photos that could be considered more complex than others. Again, there are no hard and fast rules but I will make every effort to explain these issues when quoting your job.

Q: I just received the proof of the work you did, its unbelievably fantastic, but could you just make one more adjustment?

A: Yes of course. You do not pay until you are happy, but please remember that any changes many result in an extra cost to you based on your original instructions or level of service requested. Minor tweaks, or "gooses", as I like to call them, are on me.

Q: As a customer I have certain requirements and expectations from your service. Do you have any requirements and expectations from your customer?

A: Yes of course. I require detailed and specific instructions on what you want and expect to be done to your photo. Please take a good hard look at your photo and list the changes you would like made before submitting it. I prefer not to get into an endless loop of re-editing. Having said that, I must stress that I will work with you to ensure you get the high quality professional photo that you need. Lets make it a collaborative effort.

Q: I have researched this type of service on the internet and there are several. Why should I consider ImageGoose?

A: In my opinion it's easy. Quality, detail and attention to you. Every photo you submit is processed with industry leading technology, knowledge, and a keen desire to make you happy. Making your photos look as good as possible is my personal mission.

I have researched the other companies offering similar services. The first thing that I look for is who will actually be doing the work on your photos. In many cases these are just store fronts that farm out material to scripted drones in India or the like.

Your photo requires more than just a technician going through a checklist. It requires passion, a deep knowledge and a commitment to personal service. It requires, simply, me!

Q: Your name...ImageGoose? I don't get it... is that clever or just dumb?

A: Clearly clever. Time will tell.
